This voyage undertaken by Dumont d'Urville on the corvette Astrolabe between 1826 and 1829 was the most important French expedition ordered by the government between the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Leaving Toulon on April 25, 1826, after a long journey and several stops that took her as far as Australia and then New Zealand, she returned to Marseille on February 24, 1829.
